Strange Roads is a not for profit workers' collective founded in 2003, although between them the founder members have nearly 60 years experience in professional and community theatre and film, and extensive experience in management.

Strange Roads' ambition is to bring exciting and innovative theatre where it wouldn't normally go. It accepts the need to pay the bills, but also accepts the need to get out in front of new audiences, taking risks with new and unfamiliar venues.

Strange Roads accepts the need to pay actors, to develop employment and employment skills, but strives in every way to keep ticket prices as low as possible, making its shows available to as wide an audience as possible.

Strange Roads is committed to bringing the best new writing to the widest audience in the most professional way it can.Strange Roads is committed to bringing the best possible theatre to the widest possible audience.

It does this by:
  • producing the very best shows it can
  • taking them to as wide an audience as it can
  • seeking out and signposting training and employment opportunities in the creative and cultural industries
  • a committment to excellence and professionalism
  • being as useful as it can to other groups and individuals with compatible aims.
